Consul from the Consulate General of Estonia in San Francisco will be in Los Angeles on Friday, March 10th to provide consular services (e.g. passport and ID card applications’ submissions, fingerprinting). The appointments take place at the Los Angeles Estonian House, 1306 West 24th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007.
Please pre-register for an appointment by email. In your email, please indicate your mobile telephone number, the reason for the appointment e.g., passport renewal, an initial passport application or other reason, and your preferred time. One appointment should be booked per person (e.g. if you are a family of three, you would need to book three appointments). Requests will be honored in the order received. To enable online document renewal, which requires valid fingerprints in the system, you may wish to make an appointment just for fingerprinting. To see if you have a set of valid fingerprints in the system go to https://www.politsei.ee/en/inquiries/biometrics-validity-check.
To renew your Estonian identity documents, you will need to bring the following documents to the appointment:
- standard application form which shall be filled in with a black pen or ink pen and in capital Latin letters, prior to the appointment. The application form cannot not have any corrections. Please see additional instructions to fill in the form here
- valid photo ID(any passport, or Estonian ID card)
- state fee in cash
If you apply for Estonian documents for the first time, you need to add the following:
- additional form, same requirements for filling it in apply
- birth certificatewith an Apostille (see more on Apostille below)
- proof of Estonian citizenship, e.g.:
– parents’ or grandparents’ Estonian passport or ID card copy;
– original documents regarding the citizenship; some statements can be retrieved from the Estonian National Archives.
Estonian birth, marriage, death and other vital statistics documents can be ordered through the Consulateor online.
After the appointment, send a colored digital document photo of the applicant to [email protected]. Subject line of the email should contain applicant’s name and personal ID code or date of birth. See instructions here.
NB! All documents issued in the United States (e.g. birth & marriage certificates, etc.) should be authenticated with an Apostille by the State Secretary of the state where they were issued. The Apostille is a document certifying the authenticity of the official signature on the document, the capacity in which the person signing the document acted, and the identity of any stamp or seal affixed to the document. The possible pick-up locations for your documents in the US are at the Estonian diplomatic representations in Washington DC, NYC, and SF, and the Honorary Consuls in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Huston, Dallas, Seattle, Boston, Miami, Chrystal River (Central Florida), Chicago, and Atlanta.
If you wish to authorize someone else to pick up your documents, you will need to authorize the person to do so during your appointment. It is not possible to authorize a third party to collect your documents after the appointment.
